Marilyn Colon, P.A. > Paternity

A paternity action serves to resolve the issues that arise when a child is born to individuals who are not married.  A paternity action seeks a resolution to matters of child support, whether the parents make important decisions concerning the child together (shared parental responsibility) or whether one parent has ultimate decision-making authority over certain aspects of a child’s life or all aspects of the child’s life (sole parental responsibility), and a schedule for each parent to share time with their child including who will spend time with the child on holidays and school breaks.  The smallest and intimate details of a child’s life are extremely important and it is imperative to retain an attorney who strives to resolve all matters in the child’s best interests including the child’s support, medical insurance, communication with the other parent and who will be able to claim the child as their dependent for tax purposes.
